American Sign Language Classes

Beginning American Sign Language

This in-person class meets for 1 hour each week, Sept. 2023 - April 2024. Classes are held in Tooele, Utah. Beginning ASL is for students ages 10+ (or adults) who are confident readers and who have NOT previously taken an ASL class. Students will learn the manual alphabet as well as beginning ASL vocabulary through written visuals, interactions, pictures, stories, games, and songs. They will also learn about Deaf culture and the history of American Sign Language.

Advanced American Sign Language

This in-person class meets for 1 hour each week with additional opportunities to attend ASL socials and other activities. Classes are held in Tooele, Utah Sept 2023 - April 2024. Advanced ASL is for students ages 10+ (or adults) who have previously taken Beginning and Intermediate ASL. Students will continue to improve conversational and receptive skills, expand ASL vocabulary and grammar, as well as learn to sign short stories and Deaf jokes. We will continue to discuss Deaf culture and the history of American Sign Language.
